Title:
bbswitch-dkms: drop support for armhf and ppc64el
Status in bbswitch package in Ubuntu:
Fix Committed
Status in bbswitch source package in Jammy:
Fix Committed
Bug description:
[Impact]
bbswitch is a kernel module that is supposed to detect certain ACPI
calls and toggle power on NVIDIA optimus video cards.
There is no reason to provide this feature on architectures that don't
have an ACPI bus. This will also prevent potential build failures in
the future.
[Test case]
On armhf or ppc64el:
apt install bbswitch-dkms
...
ERROR: modpost: "acpi_root_dir" [/var/lib/dkms/bbswitch/0.8/build/bbswitch.ko] undefined!
[Fix]
Simply drop support for armhf and ppc64el.
[Regression potential]
This module won't be available if there's any "special" armhf or
ppc64el system with an NVIDIA optimus card (I doubt a system like this
will ever exist).
