[Bug 1733557] [NEW] Login screen showing Authentication Failure Switch to greeter...

You have been subscribed to a public bug by Khurshid Alam (khurshid-alam):

When I lock my machine, the login screen shows my current user with the
message: "Authentication Failure"

..and in the position when the password normally exists, the option
"Switch to greeter..."

This happens mostly after switching user sessions.
Syslog contains entries like:
