Thanks for the tip Jeremy.
I am now attaching a patch to ubuntustudio-default-settings that drops a
desktop file into /usr/share/ubuntustudio/applications with
Terminal=true so that imagemagick runs from the menu at least in Ubuntu
Studio.

Starting ImageMagick from the whisker menu gives no reaction. Running
the commands executed by those entries in a cli however does start
ImageMagick
