Title:
zfs utils do not recommend or provide anything to discover errors
Status in zfs-linux package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
ZFS errors can go undetected by normally diligent users because it's
new and werid and not part of any scheme we have for reporting errors
like we do with SMART. When a disk is taken out of a ZFS pool for ZFS-
internal criteria, nothing in the normal utilities that are installed
will let a user know.
The ZFS event daemon will poll ZFS state and report errors to the root
email address. (It's not as good as reporting errors into the GUI, but
that's a feature and bug report for the Z-E-D. At least the admin user
will get local email in the case of problems.)
The zfsutils-linux should Recommend zfs-zed.
