Although I'm not too keen on adding support for desktop environments we
don't have in the archive, I see there are others already in the list
that we don't carry either.

I've uploaded this fix to saucy.

Status in “acpid” package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  If mate DE is installed pressing 'power' button results in laptop
  shutdown no matter what setting is chosen in mate configuration.

  The problem comes down to debian/powerbtn.sh which tries to determine
  if DEs power management is running and it doesn't know about mate.
