Title:
  arm64/aarch64 support for eglibc 2.16

Status in “eglibc” package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in “eglibc” package in Debian:
  Unknown

Bug description:
Here is a patch adding arm64 packaging and aarch64 library support to
  eglibc 2.16.

The patch is aginst revision 21144 of this repo:
  svn://svn.debian.org/pkg-glibc/glibc-package/branches/eglibc-2.16/debian
as 2.16 has not yet been uploaded to Debian or Ubuntu

It uses this upstream glibc support:
  http://sourceware-org.1504.n7.nabble.com/PATCH-1-2-AArch64-glibc-port-tc5950.html
(There may well be update/fixes by now, but one thing at a time)

It won't build (for arm64, which only has gcc-4.7, not 4.6) without a
recent gcc 4.7 with pr33763 fixed. gcc4.7-4.7.2-3 or later from Doko's PPA:
  https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-toolchain-r/+archive/ppa/+packages
is good, or the version in my bootstrap repo:
  http://people.debian.org/~wookey/bootstrap.html

That repo contains matching and built versions of suitable
linux-source, binutils, eglibc, gcc and arm64-cross-toolchain-base
  packages.

Getting eglibc2.16 with this patch into experimental or R would give us
  somewhere to hang further refinements.

And thanks to Aurel32 for his help getting this to build for me.
