This was already fixed independently in raring.

coreutils (8.13-3.2ubuntu3) raring; urgency=low

  * Add debian/tests/: autopkgtest for running a subset of the upstream tests
against the system installed binaries. The other upstream tests need a
built tree, and are run during package build. (LP: #1073445)
  * Add 01_gnulib-gets.dpatch: Avoid assuming that gets is declared in bundled
gnulib. Backported from upstream gnulib SVN to fix FTBFS.

Title:
FTBFS with glibc-2.16 (due to outdated gnulib)

Status in “coreutils” package in Ubuntu:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
coreutils doesn't build against eglibc due to outdated gnulib
referring to gets which has been removed in this release.

This patch fixes that in a fairly simple-minded manner.

A better fix is a new upstream release with a newer gnulib. the 8.20
in Debian unstable is such a release. (That version needs a different
  fix to cross-build)
