Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * debian/patches/004_disable_altivec_on_ppc_linux.patch: Disable use of
    altivec on PPC in the case of LINUX. Fixes FTBFS.
 
This patch is already applied in debian 1409-1 as you can see in the changelog
