Still waiting on fcitx to pass through binary NEW. See:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/precise/+queue

So obviously my test build was FTBFS:

CMake Error at CMakeLists.txt:6 (FIND_PACKAGE):
  Could not find a configuration file for package "Fcitx" that is compatible
  with requested version "4.2.0".

  The following configuration files were considered but not accepted:

    /usr/share/cmake/fcitx/FcitxConfig.cmake, version: 4.1.2


Though, I was a bit surprised that the build got that far. Should the
Build-Depends perhaps be stricter?

  (universe), this is a minor update to sync with new fcitx API. Note,
  Bug 928070 and Bug 928079 should be treated before this one.

  fcitx-googlepinyin (0.1.4-1) unstable; urgency=low

     * New upstream release: for fcitx 4.2.0 and
     	libgooglepinyin 0.1.2.
