This bug was fixed in the package vbetool - 1.1-3
Sponsored for Logan Rosen (logan)
---------------
vbetool (1.1-3) unstable; urgency=low
* QA upload.
* Change maintainer to QA group.
* debian/ cleanup:
* Change format to 3.0 (quilt) and drop manual quilt usage
* Bump debhelper compat to 9
* Use dh
* Fix VCS links. While the package is not maintained there
any new maintainer still might find the information useful
* Fix FTBFS with --as-needed, patch by Stefan Potyra.
Closes: #606832
* Remove -lz from LDADD, doesn't seem to be needed.

Title:
Sync vbetool 1.1-3 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
Status in “vbetool” package in Ubuntu:
Fix Released
Bug description:
Please sync vbetool 1.1-3 (main) from Debian unstable (main)
Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
* debian/patches/00_misc_fixes: Use <program>_LDADD instead of
AM_LDFLAGS to add librarires. The former will put libraries
in front of the object to link, the latter afterwards. This
will fix a FTBFS with --as-needed linker flag.
The Ubuntu FTBFS patch was incorporated into Debian, with the exception of the -lz parameter for LDADD, which was claimed unnecessary.
Changelog entries since current raring version 1.1-2ubuntu1:
