this looks like a bugfix release which can also go in after the feature
freeze.

concerning the diff:
subprocess.checkoutput does not exist
you probably want
subprocess.check_output

I also made a couple of crash reports public, it might be worth fixing
them, if they aren't yet.

  Just a few bug fixes, minor in terms of code changed, but major in
  terms of usability improvement. Would be great to get this in before
  feature freeze....
