You have been subscribed to a public bug by Daniel Holbach (dholbach):

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

After loading up KDE for the first time everything looks great until I
run any KDE application that contains an input field, the newly launched
application freezes. A backtrace indicated that it was waiting in some
scimm call.

I've removed scim completely from my system BEFORE installing kubuntu-desktop, only remains are the configuration files:
rc scim 1.4.4-4ubuntu6 smart common input method platform
rc scim-anthy 1.0.0-3 SCIM IMEngine module for Anthy
rc scim-canna 1.0.0-2 SCIM IMEngine module for Canna
rc scim-gtk2-immodule 1.4.4-4ubuntu6 GTK+2 input method module with SCIM as backe

Removing scim-qtimm completely solved the problem. KDE apps with input fields work correctly.

Would this indicate scim-qtimm should have the other scim packages as
dependencies?
