Daniel,
I had this problem in the past, with an old version of pbuilder, which can handle [linux-any] build-depends. usbmuxd use this in build-depends : libusb-1.0-0-dev (>= 1.0.3) [linux-any], libusb2-dev (>= 8.0-4) [kfreebsd-any].
However, I think it's fixed in Maverick. At least it's working on my maverick system.
