Michael, thanks for the explanation. Re Comment #59 I am using that .deb under Maverick, based on your info in Comment #53 stating that Natty was equivalent to Maverick at that time. The .deb installed and worked flawlessly. 
 
Perhaps this info may also be useful to you, Seth. In any case, thanks again for the patch. 
 
WRT GParted Live CD: the .zip version works fine when booted from a USB stick. However the .ISO version reports some errors while booting from CD, on several different PCs. The MD5 matches and the CD is error-free (zero c2 errors), so I felt more confident using the USB version. Planning to report this to the GParted project when I can assemble a complete bug report. Just mentioning it here re Comment #62.
