Yes I can also confirm that the .deb which I mentioned above fixes the problem on PowerPC. Here's a direct link:

It would be really great to see this version actually released and showing up in Synaptic. I'd be willing to contribute some time / effort if there's anything I could do to expedite that. Any useful advice on how to proceed?
