Status in “mksh” package in Ubuntu: New
Bug description:
I have just built mksh 39.3-4 which I uploaded yesterday on a VM dist-upgraded
to maverick today with success. (The system even boots now if mksh is /bin/sh !)
Explanation of Ubuntu deltas and why they can be dropped:
* debian/diffs/silence_conftests.diff: work around false positive reported by
http://people.debian.org/~dannf/check-implicit-pointer-functions – no longer
needed because Debian package works around the regexen used by that script
* debian/control, debian/rules: Exclude dietlibc on powerpc/ppc64
and sparc (cf. LP: #381332) – no longer needed because integrated into
the Debian package (using dpkg-vendor comparision with string Ubuntu);
I strongly believe this issue will be solved by that; pending LP #584980 though
* Hardcode installing mksh as /bin/sh to false (cf. LP: #348872) – no longer
needed, see above, mksh has been confirmed to operate as /bin/sh now
As per https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SyncRequestProcess I will be subscribing
ubuntu-sponsors after submitting. I explicitly confirm that the package should
be sync’d from Debian sid, overwriting the Ubuntu changes currently in the
archive. I am upstream and maintainer in Debian, and I will be monitoring
the Ubuntu bugmails and build logs.
