Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
Ubuntu diff
  * Fix memory corruption error when backslash line continuation used in
    function call. upstream #29253, closes: #568665, LP: #540764.
can be dropped as the fix is present in the latest Debian upload.

  * [a6f53b8]: [topic--overlap-strcpy-fix]: make corrupts commands with
    latest eglibc make uses strcpy() on overlapping strings, recent
    (e)glibc doesn't tolerate this. strcpy is not defined to work on
    overlapping regions. This is upstream bug
