thank you tormod for pointing this out!

committed my patches upstream:
http://git.debian.org/?p=collab-maint/apt-xapian-index.git;a=commitdiff;h=d8cc0bd4468ba7144b8f610016422d9bd1471be6

setting this now to fix committed.
(at least i see this appropriate when reading http://blog.launchpad.net/general/of-bugs-and-statuses
"For distribution packages, this status is intended to communicate that the developer has produced a fix in a location other than the official Ubuntu archive")

alright? can the show move on this way?

** Changed in: apt-xapian-index (Ubuntu)

Status in “apt-xapian-index” package in Ubuntu: Fix Committed

Bug description:
Binary package hint: apt-xapian-index

A background silent update process shouldn't use 98% CPU. It makes system sluggish with no visible reason.
