Status in “tangogps” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed

Bug description:
Binary package hint: tangogps

gpsd has more or less out of the blue (it was announced in the gpsd man-page...) replaced the 15 year old protocol between version 2.90 and 2.92.

Debian has already a fix and thus Ubuntu should sync to 0.99.3+debian-2, otherwise tangoGPS can't be used together with a GPS - or at least wont show the position.

0.99.3+debian-2 is compatible with older versions of gpsd too.

debian/changelog since the current Ubuntu version:

tangogps (0.99.3+debian-2) unstable; urgency=low

  * Adding patch from upstream to update gps functions to work with
    current gpsd versions (Closes: #573848).
