The current ubuntu version crashes on termination (LP#616027) which is
especially visible if called as a script from inkscape (LP#105880). The
debian package includes a patch (that was in the Ubuntu package before
but got lost somehow...) that fixes this.
Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
The Ubuntu delta changed the packaging to debhelper 7 and added misc:Depends dependencies -- these have been merged into debian.
