@Martin: Even though the indicator applet does not have that problem,
g-v-c is just one click away from the indicator applet, and still needs
fixing.

Try it: start e g rythmbox, then open g-v-c. Slide the application
volume down to zero. The mute button is then automatically checked, but
it is not automatically unchecked when sliding up again.

Or did I misunderstand something?

Bug description:
This is about the volume slider in the volume applet in Gnome 2.28.1 on Ubuntu 9.10.
If the volume slider is on anything else but the lowest position, when click-and-slide is performed the volume is update real-time. When the volume slider is on 0 though during click-and-slide nothing happens and the mouse button must be released in order to get the sound volume updated. This makes for an inconsistent and annoying behavior.
