Perhaps we could also do it as an activity @ SFDS 10, on paper? Include space for contact info. I would change #10 to, "Would you be interested in seminars or self-study groups about Ubuntu and/or FOSS in general?" I'd rather not put people on the spot about their potential contributions right off the bat. N00bs are often a bit shy, and they might flee if they thought something was expected of them. As well, I'd like to gauge the interest in educational activities that we may be able to offer at some point. However, there is plenty of work here in the fields you mentioned. I suggest that you join two other lists and post your inquiry there. The first is the google group of hackerspace.sg, Singapore's first and only (so far!) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hacker_space . Direct link: http://www.lugs.org.sg/mailman/listinfo/slugnet As well, I and some associates have put together a registered society (Singapore non-profit) named Free and Open Source Alliance (Singapore)(FOSA). Though its activity level is rather low right now, we are working to raise our profile and relevance. We just conducted a successful Software Freedom Day (Singapore) event at the National Library Building: http://softwarefreedomday.sg . So, please check out FOSA and consider joining it if you plan to come here!: http://fosa.sg Finally, there are a number of job search sites in Singapore that you can use: http://www.st701.com/ http://www.jobsdb.com.sg/Singapore/ http://jobscentral.com.sg/ Feel free to write to me directly if there are any other questions you have. Let's take slashdot as an example. There are 6 unique hostnames contacted for the attached request. 5 (a.fsdn.com, ad.doubleclick.net, b.scorecardresearch.com, pagead2.googlesyndication.com, www.google-analytics.com) of them use anycast-based CDNs. Only slashdot.orgitself is not using a CDN. The 5 based on CDNs are < 25ms away from me. I made 17 requests to them. If I used opendns, they would be >200ms away. 469.3 KB of the traffic is served by CDNs. 113.3 KB of the traffic is not. The good news is that google public dns now has servers somewhere in singapore as well (i think they were only in the us during initial launch). So, I could use them and should probably still enjoy good speeds, although there may be some cases where the results might still not be optimal. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
