It has since been flagged by google with links to 12 trojans. (http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=http://ubuntu.sg/) This certainly does not give a good impression to users searching for ubuntu sg in google. May I ask if the maintainer of the website is aware of this? It would be better if you could ask your question in the forums (http://ubuntuforums.org/) or IRC at #ubuntu. (Response is much faster over there). You would be asked to describe the message (if there is) when the num cap and scroll lock light blinks Ubuntu has something like scan disk. It is called fsck. You will have to use the terminal though. You may want to refer to this (http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=699590&postcount=2) for some information on running fsck Cheers Rui Boon From hanzahar at gmail.com Fri May 23 12:27:10 2008 From: hanzahar at gmail.com (hanzahar) Date: Fri, 23 May 2008 20:27:10 +0800 Subject: [Ubuntu-SG] Ubuntu-SG Digest, Vol 16, Issue 3 In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <9680ee4e0805230527m6bf9ba34w130391fd3ee2ab7f@mail.gmail.com> thanks a lot Rui Boon for the help... do you guys join LUGS? 2008/5/23 : > Send Ubuntu-SG mailing list submissions to > ubuntu-sg at lists.ubuntu.com > > To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit > https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-sg > or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to > ubuntu-sg-request at lists.ubuntu.com > > You can reach the person managing the list at > ubuntu-sg-owner at lists.ubuntu.com > > When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific > than "Re: Contents of Ubuntu-SG digest..." > > Today's Topics: > > 1. I can understand the exam stress as i am a student too (will be having my mid years after the june holiday). :) There are still some spam that is hidden with noscript lying around. Those spam bots are quite clever as they interweave their content around the real content. You might want to view the site with javascript turned off and they will start to appear. Also this loco seems to be started in Oct 2006 and has not been approved yet. Does anyone has any suggestion on how to push this team to a greater height? Any suggestions/ideas are welcome and the good thing is that you dont need to be the one to implement the idea. As for the ubuntu singapore being approved , or for that matter any distro team being approved in Singapore is pretty slim. LUGS itself has no more than 600 members and less than 50 active members , it has not been growing for last 3 years or so and we have yet to see new faces for a while. If LUGS can't get new members easily , we sure can't. We will have to be bigger than LUGS and more active than LUGS to be approved. Why? Simple , firstly windows is "free" for a lot of people. You either download for free or you get it for free from work or school. There is no reason to learn something new. Second , most people here are quite computer-savy but not IT savy , meaning they know enough to buy computers from dell online but doesn't know enough to install an OS or even know what is an OS. So they will still buy everything from dell/hp etc etc ... Third and most importantly , time is short and expensive. Tell anyone they need time to learn something new and exciting and nobody will friend with you :P regards billy From rykel98 at gmail.com Tue May 27 10:21:49 2008 From: rykel98 at gmail.com (rykel98) Date: Tue, 27 May 2008 10:21:49 +0000 Subject: [Ubuntu-SG] rykel98 wants to keep up with you on Twitter Message-ID: <483be0bd9106c_39861555590c8f3c33414@twitter-web001.twitter.com.tmail> To find out more about Twitter, visit the link below: http://twitter.com/i/442b71c038114dd9c45730a2151272490e28c612 Thanks, -The Twitter Team About Twitter Twitter is a unique approach to communication and networking based on the simple concept of status. I have been lurking in this mail list for a while, but this the first time I make a post. I agree that there are too few of us to make a Loco Team. (Side note: anybody got an actual count?) But I have a counter proposal. I spent a lot of time at ubuntuforums.org, hiding my real identity there :-). The new BB forum version allows creating arbitrary/social groups. If there is enough people interested we can create an informal Singapore group. _________________________________________________________________ Explore the seven wonders of the world http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=7+wonders+world&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Once it's done, I will post a link for anyone interested in joining. But I decided not to simply called it "Singapore group", for reasons which I prefer not to go into right now. Anyways, if you have suggestion on a name, please feedback. I will wait a couple of days before proceeding. I'm leaning towards The Kiasu group, lol. (basically I'm lame when coming up with a name). regards Chew P.S. In my previous post, I meant rykel, not ryker. Apologies to rykel for the mistake. _________________________________________________________________ Discover the new Windows Vista http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=windows+vista&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
