I suppose anything is possible, but it runs the live CDs just fine. I'm 
currently running memory diags just to be sure.

The server is built on a garden-variety Intel desktop board and 
processor with a pair of Seagate 1TB SATA disks. I've done lots of these 
sort before.

Uh no, but then of all the many Ubuntu installs I've ever done that has 
never been the case and likely never will.
