I solved this problem by purging my locale package:
$ sudo aptitude purge language-pack-ca
,reinstalling it and rebuilding the locales:
$ sudo locale-gen
--
cubells
web: vcubells.net
microblogging: identi.ca/cubells
xmpp: cubells at jabber.org
