it is in latest kernel as well, actually

 ~# ls -al /lib/modules/2.6.32-37-generic/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 83024 2011-12-02 21:22
/lib/modules/2.6.32-37-generic/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko

but still failing to modprobe

~# modprobe ipmi_si
FATAL: Error inserting ipmi_si
(/lib/modules/2.6.32-37-generic/kernel/drivers/char/ipmi/ipmi_si.ko):
No such device
