Per our discussion I'd like to suggest
lucid - seabios
Bug 589063
Under D, fixed upstream and in maverick already.
(It could potentially be B, as I had a friend test with older QEMU/KVM
versions that shipped prior to seabios (not under Ubuntu though) who
told me that the bug didn't exist then).
