collectd E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Hi,

can some one please guide me  about the below issue

#apt-get install collectd

I am on Ubuntu Server 8.04
i followed the suggestion as mentioned here --->
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dpkg/+question/50778 but
it didnot work for me
