eucalyptus on offline machine

i would like to try to setup eucalyptus on a machine that has no
network/internet access for testing/development purposes.
since all setup docs i've found depend on dhcp server and network
availability my question is could you provide some guidelines what
would be the simplest way to do this?

so, my situation is that i have a laptop (4gb ram) and would like to
setup eucalyptus for testing/dev only.
my laptop is mostly offline so i'll go with no network/internet
access. should i setup dhcpd on laptop or go with static ip addresses?
