Attempting to revert to 2.6.31-9

After upgrading to 2.6.31-10, my Mac Mini no longer boots.  It can't
find USB devices or network devices.  It may have something to do with
grub2, there were errors when it upgraded about 512 bytes or some
such.

How can I revert to 2.6.31-9 after booting from the alpha5 CD in rescue mode?
