That's it.

Installing ssmtp will remove exim since both provide
mail-transport-agent and cannot be installed together.

But ssmtp install fails because exim cannot be removed
successfully, and that's because the package removal
process cannot stop the exim daemon, which isn't running
anymore.

Adding "exit 0" makes the invoke-rc.d exim stop pass
without doing a thing, and then the rest of the ssmtp
installation can proceed.

Let me know if further details are needed.
