Hy,

I don't use Nagois but on all HP Server we use the hpasm Nagios Plugin 
(http://www.consol.de/opensource/nagios/check-hpasm/) with our
Monitoring tool to check the HW.

You definitely what know the status of your HW.
A HardDisk fail isn't so unusual and a Raid0 will only help if your
replace the broken one before the second HD fails ;-)
