monitor 640x480

Dear list-members,

i'm installing ubuntu-server 8.0.4 on a ibm-server. The monitor for the
installation is quite old and has a resolution of 640x480 (only!).
The first two screens of installation (1. language selection/help
system; 2. Install ubuntu server) can not be displayed on this monitor
because they need a too high resolution.
I have to type blind; following sreens can be displayed.
Is there a possibility to reduce the resolution, needed by the
start-screens?
