Well, so far I haven't been successful in building a vm with a working
bridge, so I blame both for my failure.

Thierry explained the situation, which I interpret thusly;

I will continue trying to figure this stuff out, if I learn something
which seems like it would add to the utility of the community
doc page, I'll edit it accordingly. If the edit turns out to be
correct, it may make it's way to the official doc page.
