Sudo or NOT to sudo

Been reading up on sudo issues and on a test box I tested the
mix-matched hostname error and it sure does hose sudo.

 

I did:

me at server:~$ sudo hostname -v mybox

 

now when I do a sudo I get:

sudo: unable to lookup mybox via gethostbyname()

 

The posts I've found was the only way to fix is reinstall or run
recovery from the CD.  And disable sudo.

 

What's your opinion on sudo?
