Ubuntu a poor choice for servers

Well, the LVM problems have shown up on two dell laptops (i9300,
i8100) and on my server (Tyan 2895 Thunder K8WE dual opteron), so I
doubt they're hardware-specific... but I somehow managed, so I'm
really concerned about getting RAID to work.
