Is samba running fine now, or you really don't use it, in which case it
could be uninstalled perhaps?

In any case, there isn't much we can do without the crash file. If this
is recurring, I'd suggest you collect logs with apport and attach them
to this bug. This can be done by running this command:

sudo apport-collect -p samba 1829754

But since your machine was very out of date, I suggest to only consider
crashes from this point forward.
