Configuring mysql-common (5.7.22-0ubuntu0.16.04.1) ...
update-alternatives: an error occurred: the alternative link /etc/mysql/my.cnf is already managed by my.cnf.bak
dpkg: An error occurred while processing the mysql-common package (--configure):
  The subprocess installing the post-installation script will return the error output code 2

Also:
$ grep -E "/boot/vmlinuz" DpkgTerminalLog.txt|wc -l
1864

Don't you ever remove unused kernel packages?

You should clean up your system, and that is beyond the scope of a bug
report.

I suggest you try "sudo apt autoremove", inspect the result carefully,
and continue or not.

Then you can perhaps try:

sudo apt update
sudo apt -f install
