Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.
The nmbd service is failing to start, and it shows this in the status
output:
Status: "nmbd: No local IPv4 non-loopback interfaces available,
waiting for interface ..."
Exact details will be given in the /var/log/samba/log.nmbd file, but it
looks like you have some sort of local network configuration error, as
it's complaining it couldn't bind to an IPv4 address on you system.
Another interesting bit of information:
Jul 16 11:55:38 hostname systemd[1]: nmbd.service: Supervising process
1482 which is not our child. We'll most likely not notice when it exits.
So maybe nmbd couldn't attach to an IPv4 interface because there was
already another process running.
Could you please attach that log file, as well as the main samba
configuration file /etc/samba/smb.conf?
Also, please show the output of this command:
sudo systemctl status nmbd.service smbd.service samba-ad-dc.service
samba.service
Thanks
