Hello Rock, sorry for taking so long to look at this bug again.
We seem to be dealing with multiple issues here. This bug report is
about the postinst script of samba packages failing because the service
can't be started. After you fixed /etc/samba/smb.conf with regards to
the invalid "user = share" configuration parameter, does the package
installation proceed without errors? I.e., do these commands finish
correctly:
sudo apt update
sudo apt -f install
And, since this was some time ago, you might also want to try an upgrade
again:
sudo apt dist-upgrade
And at the end, check if the services are running:
sudo systemctl status smbd.service nmbd.service winbind.service
