You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I create my VMs with virt-manager and tried "Video Modell vmvga" in
order to let the VM use my whole screen of 1920x1200. This works with
some Ubuntu flavours, but others crash on login:

The host is Ubuntu 12.04.05 LTS, using Gnome-classic as GUI. All VMs
were updated to latest state.

All VMs run, when "Video Modell cirrus" is selected, however, this
allows only a max display resolution of 1280*1024, insufficient for some
graphics work.

But when running "Video Modell vmvga" (all being otherwise identically
configured):

Ubuntu Unity 14.04 .................. ok
Kubuntu 14.04 .......................... ok (occasional crashes)
Ubuntu Cinnamon 14.04 ......... shows login screen, crashes on login (this VM was cloned from Unity, Cinnamon then added)
Ubuntu Gnome 14.04................ shows login screen, crashes on login (installed from fresh download)
Ubuntu Mate 14.04.01 ............. shows login screen, crashes on login (installed from fresh download)

Ubuntu Unity has such tiny fonts that usage is almost impossible. Only
Kubuntu is usable in that regard, but this crashes occasionally

** Affects: qemu (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: Incomplete
