You have been subscribed to a public bug:
1) Linux Mint 17 'Qiana' MATE 64-bit
2) sudo apt-get install docker.io ; service docker.io start
3) docker.io is installed but does not work because required package lxc is not installed. Attempting to start docker creates many log entries and docker does not start:
... many terminated / respawning lines omitted for brevity ...
Feb 16 09:55:15 xxx kernel: [689340.938910] init: docker.io main process (23081) terminated with status 1
Feb 16 09:55:15 xxx kernel: [689340.938916] init: docker.io main process ended, respawning
Feb 16 09:55:15 xxx kernel: [689341.010252] init: docker.io main process (23134) terminated with status 1
Feb 16 09:55:15 xxx kernel: [689341.010258] init: docker.io respawning too fast, stopped
4) lxc should have been installed as well
5) happens always if docker.io and lxc are not installed
** Affects: docker.io (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
