James, are we likely to be able to easily rebase on Debian with a
repacked tarball?  (i.e. is Debian likely to go to using upstream
tarballs soon or fix their generation to work with the python3
testsuite?)

Maybe pass your debdiff over to Debian.

I don't want to create a permanent delta for this package.
