PROBLEM:

The following error message appeared in the synaptic install log just
before the system reported a 'system problem'. It occured during an
initial install:

Building module:
cleaning build area.....(bad exit status: 2)
./configure --with-linux='/lib/modules/3.13.0-40-generic/build' && make -C datapath/linux.......(bad exit status: 1)
Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.13.0-40-generic (x86_64)

STATUS:

It is not currently affecting system stability, but it has occurred once
before when I tried to install openvswitch modules.

Since I do a lot of virtualization, I will keep an eye out for any
further problems.
