I suppose the links to conf and logs should be created as well:
cd /usr/share/tomcat7
sudo ln -s /var/lib/tomcat7/conf/ conf
sudo ln -s /var/lib/tomcat7/logs/ logs

The folder temp was missing too :(
sudo mkdir /usr/share/tomcat7/temp
