Can't we do  this sanely instead of making the intended-to-be-user-editable template file have such madness as :
  {{if node.split_arch()[0] in {'i386', 'amd64'} }}

Why not make 'arch' actually mean 'arch' and 'subarch' mean 'subarch' as
variables available to the template.
