However, I tested this with

sendemail -s 10.0.3.100 -a z€.bat -f serge at hallyn.com -t
ubuntu at l0-gxsjr1

and got the expected rejection message:

Mar 28 14:56:13 l0-gxsjr1 sendemail[4331]: ERROR => Received:
550-Questa mail contiene un allegato di tipo .bat che non e' accettato
dal, 550-server poiche' potrebbe contenere virus. Se dovete
assolutamente inviare, 550-questo allegato, modificate l'estensione del
file, es.:, 550-da exe a exo, oppure comprimetelo in formato bz o tar.gz
- This mail, 550-contains an attachment of a type wich we do not accept
(bat) because it, 550-could contain some virus. If you absolutely need
to send this file, plese, 550 rename its extension, ex: from exe to exo,
or compress it as bz or tar.gz
