Hi Brian

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug in Ubuntu.

As you state, the configuration options for squid3 are different to
those for squid2.  During the 12.04 development cycle we did review
whether an automated upgrade of the configuration file was possible -
but it was not.

Please see the release notes for 12.04 re manual migration of squid
configuration:

Marking this bug as 'Invalid' as this is a know manual upgrade
requirement.
