PLEASE FIX THIS BUG ASAP!!! I don't understand why you did not fix this
yet. I just upgraded from 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS and now have the same
problem as many other people here.

This bug is a real pain in the ass! I've tried the mentioned workaround
- downgrading the sasl packages - and it works. However, I then get an
even nastier problem: downgrading sasl causes OpenLDAP to break - it
only works until I try to restart slapd. I get the following in my log
files:

Jun 25 15:26:59 slapd[6358]: @(#) $OpenLDAP: slapd (Apr 5 2012 16:22:20) $#012#011buildd at allspice:/build/buildd/openldap-2.4.28/debian/build/servers/slapd
Jun 25 15:26:59 slapd[6358]: slap_sasl_init: auxprop add plugin failed
Jun 25 15:26:59 slapd[6358]: slapd stopped.

And slapd does not start anymore (until I reupgrade the sasl packages).
I also can't try the sasl configuration change because I use sasl to
authenticate via LDAP and not MySQL.

Any ideas how to make both SASL via LDAP and OpenLDAP work?
