But avahi is only default for desktop distro.

Samba (SMBD) is more suitable for file server.

I think is better disable avahi and include on samba package a avahi
service file:

   <name replace-wildcards="yes">Samba Shares on %h</name>
   <service>
       <type>_smb._tcp</type>
